I have been a LTL Driver for the last 8 1/2 years after my TL experience. I can only rate Averitt from a Driver’s perspective, Driver’s are treated like they are really important, because they are.Īfter being a Truckload Driver for about 8 1/2 years, Averitt was excellent about getting me home EVERY weekend like they promised and provided new and well-maintained equipment. What is the best part of working at the company? The concert touring division pays well but that’s pretty much OTR trucking. It could definitely be better across the board. The salary is not unlivable but spending 60-70 hours away from home does constitute a bit more pay. The major con to Averitt is really just the pay. You don’t have to worry about anything getting stolen or any weird truck stop shenanigans we all know about. Truck stops are a rarity at Averitt, only time you might need to go to one is to scale. If you’re regional, you don’t have to worry about parking, they literally have a service center in every major city in their lanes. You’re not forced to drive in bad weather, any reviews that say that is complete nonsense. They do care about their employees, they’re willing to help in anyway they can. I’ve broken down twice in two years and the longest I waited for a tow was 1 hour. If you stick with the regional truckload or LTL/local stuff, pay will be pretty much consistent through out the year. Benefits are very good and profit sharing is very good.

Regional drivers are home on weekends always. They are extremely flexible with time off(with ample warning). When you call somebody, you’ll never wait more than 30 seconds for someone to answer. Dispatchers, maintenance and any other department you need is there when you need them. If you’re looking for job security, good equipment, consistent pay and good benefits and respect from management, Averitt is the place for you.
